Dr. Daniel LeGoff joins Y.A.L.E. School

The Y.A.L.E. School announces Daniel B. LeGoff, PhD, LP. as a new staff member.

Often called “Dr. Dan,” Dr. LeGoff is a father of three, an avid hockey player, gardener, car and motorcycle enthusiast, and amateur musician.  He is also a licensed and board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist who has been specializing in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral conditions in infants, children, and adolescents for the past 20 years. His training and clinical experience have included specializations in early childhood autism assessments, neuropsychological assessment, functional behavioral assessment, applied behavior analysis, school consultation, peer-mediated interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and family therapy.

Dr. LeGoff is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg, Canada, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He earned master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Dr. LeGoff completed residency and post-doctoral training at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, and the University of Hawaii, John Burns School of Medicine, at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

Dr. LeGoff has experience with both health care and educational program development, consultation and administration. He has worked with both state and private agencies as a consultant and expert witness in IDEA-related issues, including federal court and class-action testimony related to education of children with autism. Dr. LeGoff has been involved in teaching and training as an adjunct professor in psychology at University of Hawaii, Argosy University, Cambridge University, Rowan University, Drexel University, Widener University, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has been a presenter and keynote speaker at numerous conferences and workshops, both nationally and internationally.

Perhaps best known for developing the LEGO® Therapy approach to improving social competence, Dr. LeGoff has published two articles, a book chapter and a manual on this topic, as well as completing numerous public and private workshops and trainings. Dr. LeGoff is involved in collaborative research on this therapy methodology with Prof. Simon Baron-Cohen at the Autism Research Centre, Cambridge University, and Dr. Gina Owens with the National Autism Service in the UK, and with LEGO® Corporation in Denmark.

In conjunction with the YALE Clinical Services team, Dr. LeGoff will be providing on-site staff training, supervision, program development, program evaluations, and evidence-based research on student outcomes at all eight YALE School sites.
